Goodbye

WARNING: This is kinda sad but my kids might want to see. I think she was pleading for me help her go.

It Was Time

Last night was painful for Syd. She woke me at 1:30 crying and howling. By this morning she was clearly letting me know it was time.

Being Carried

Poor Sydney. She hates being carried. But no choices now. Her legs are giving out. I came home from Christmas in Chicago and she had gone down hill. She wasn't eating with me gone and stopped walking. Fred's been carrying her up and down the back steps for potty. She ate some hamburger and turkey hot dogs yesterday and today and seems a little perkier. She got a nice warm bath when I got home on Wednesday.

What a Snoozer

Wednesday, July 29

Sydney loves snow. She's part American Eskimo dog, so she can take the cold.
This picture is from winter of 2003-2004.

Sunday, July 26

Groucho came to visit. I think he never left.
Halloween 2001

Note: Sydney is doing fairly well. She had a bad nose infection while Lauren was here to visit. Antibiotics seem to have cleared it up. Sydney went for a 3 mile hike up in the mountains to Dog Lake last weekend and did great.

Flag Day - June 14

Yesterday was Flag Day. Sydney is still doing great. She went on a 3 hour hike up Neff's Canyon. Her Girl is coming to visit July 8. She will be so happy!

Wednesday, June 3

Her favorite spot to sleep in our Elgin home.

Thursday, May 28

Sydney loves creeks! Its snow melt time so there is a lot of water descending from the mountains. Its ice cold too! For Syd, the colder the better. It takes a lot to penetrate the Eskimo fur.

From the archives. In our Illinois kitchen. Sorry, Lauren, I will try to post more often!!

Sunny Days

Ahh, so warm and sunny today. Syd went on a LONG hike yesterday and did great. I checked her lump today and I can't feel it! The meds seem to be lessening her symptoms.

Saturday, May 2

UPDATE: Sydney is doing great. She has all her liveliness back - underfoot all the time again. She is eating well and the medications seem to have shrunk the tumor or at least keeping it small. Maybe she will fool us and be around a lot longer. She sleeps a lot, which is normal for her. She's been going on small hikes and doing very well, keeping up to our pace. It's probably wrong to let my guard down but I feel a little less sad these days.

P.S. I love the fur on the top of her head. Its so silky and parts in the center and makes a mop over her eyes.

Sydney loves wrapping paper and bows!

Clean

I really didn't want a bath

But if it means Mom will lie down next to me

to stroke my face more often

Then its worth the trauma.

Nine Years Ago

Mi casa, su casa?
No, this is my Mom's townhouse (in 2000)
and boy, was I glad to be rescued from the
Spring Street 'krazy' casa and be reunited with my family.

In younger days
My yard was so green
I'd lie in the morning sun
Until the Big Guy made me come in.

Hike with Me

So sunny and warm. Take me to my park to splash in the creek.

Sandy trails lead to beds of stone and melted snow.

Sunday, April 19

Her fur has gone silver
Her face has grown old
The evil cells lurk, so I am told
Her Girl and Her Boy
Live so far away
May photos and poems,
help them I pray
To keep fresh the face
of the Friend they so love
